The 66th Cannes Film Festival will honor the centenary of India's film industry. India will be the guest country for the 11-day event, the third country to be honored by the festival organizers, following Egypt in 2011 and Brazil in 2012. One movie rumored to be screened at Cannes 2013, though the release date is vague, is director Rupesh Paul's "Kamasutra 3D." FRANCE 15-26 May 2013 66th Cannes Film Festival to highlight Indian film industry

The 66th Cannes Film Festival will honor the centenary of India's film industry. India will be the guest country for the 11-day event, the third country to be honored by the festival organizers, following Egypt in 2011 and Brazil in 2012. One movie rumored to be screened at Cannes 2013, though the release date is vague, is director Rupesh Paul's "Kamasutra 3D." It is a French-Indian production starring Indian actress Sherlyn Chopra, most recently famous for being the first Indian to pose nude for Playboy magazine. In his Internet biography, Paul, an Indian film director, screenwriter and poet, describes 3D as the "best format to portray classic erotica."

Over 12 days, the festival will screen some 21 films from around the world in competition for the Palme D'Or, along with 19 films in the supporting sidebar, Un Certain Regard, and a handful of films in special sessions.

Some 40,000 film professionals gather each year at the festival regarded as the prime meeting point for their industry.

Paul announced the plan for the movie at the 65th festival. According to the Hindustan Times, "Kamasutra 3D" is the first major film role for Chopra, who has had small roles in several Bollywood productions.

Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai. Only part of the industry to be honored at Cannes, Bollywood is the largest film production center in India and one of the largest in the world.

Entries from other parts of the world won't be posted until closer to the festival. (WRITTEN DEC 2012)
