It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Los Angeles Times film critic Patrick Goldstein refers to it as "a classic 9/11 movie?" The Conspirator will be released in Apr 2011, around the time of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. It stars Robin Wright as Mary Surratt, a boarding-house owner tried as an accomplice in the assassination by John Wilkes Booth. Goldstein notes that after Lincoln was shot and killed in 1865, America was traumatized, much as it was after the terrorist attacks of 11 Sep 2001. In 1865, as in the aftermath of the 2011 attack, the country's thirst for vengeance drove events. Redford attends the festival each year, and for a second year will have Sibylle Szaggars with him as his wife. He married Szaggars, a well-known German abstract painter, in Jul 2009. Redford, who, belying his pistol-packing image is an outspoken gun control advocate, won an Oscar in 1980 for his film 'Ordinary People.'; He has also starred in more than 40 films including "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "The Sting." The festival films will be screened in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance in Utah for some 50,000 attendees. Up to two hundred films will be selected from more than 9,000 submissions.
